1. A method performed by a terminal in a communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a base station, configuration information on a list of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources, wherein the PUCCH resources in the list correspond to a specific number of hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) information bits;
receiving, from the base station, control signaling including a plurality of downlink control information (DCI) formats for a multicast data reception;
receiving, from the base station, a plurality of data blocks on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on the plurality of DCI formats;
identifying a PUCCH resource from the list of the PUCCH resources based on data blocks that failed to be decoded among the plurality of data blocks; and
transmitting, to the base station, on the identified PUCCH resource, HARQ-ACK information in response to the plurality of data blocks.
