1. A wearable device comprising: a motion sensor configured to acquire first motion data and second motion data; and
processing circuitry programmed to detect, using the first motion data, a qualifying motion event, wherein detecting the qualifying motion event includes using one or more first quality metrics to detect the qualifying motion event; and
in response to detecting the qualifying motion event, trigger processing of the second motion data by the motion sensor to detect a qualifying handwashing event using the first motion data and the second motion data, wherein detecting the qualifying handwashing event includes using one or more second quality metrics, different from the one or more first quality metrics, to detect the qualifying handwashing event.
