1. An in vitro method for detecting and/or measuring the level of sodium-dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT) in a biological sample, wherein said method comprises the steps of:
a. contacting said biological sample with a PERV-B.RBD ligand, which is a receptor binding domain (RBD) ligand isolated from an envelope protein of porcine endogenous retrovirus type B (PERV-B), a variant and/or a fragment; and,
b. detecting and/or measuring the binding of said PERV-B.RBD ligand, variant and/or fragment to SMVT,
wherein said PERV-B.RBD ligand comprises a sequence consisting of the sequence SEQ ID NO: 6, a variant and/or fragment,
wherein said variant presents a sequence identity of at least 90% with the sequence SEQ ID NO: 6,
wherein said fragment is a fragment of the sequence SEQ ID NO: 6 or of said variant, and
wherein said variant and/or fragment binds to SMVT.
