1. A payload deployment mechanism, comprising:
a body portion;
a bay area partially defined by the body portion;
a configurable payload operative to detachably connect to the body portion of the payload deployment mechanism;
a force generating mechanism attached to the payload deployment mechanism, the force generating mechanism configured to impart force to the configurable payload to separate the configurable payload from the payload deployment mechanism; and
a hinge mechanism disposed within the payload deployment mechanism, and configured to control separation of the configurable payload from the payload deployment mechanism, the hinge mechanism being configured to pivot the configurable payload about a pivot point located external to the payload deployment mechanism.
