4. A temporary cap for capping an end of pipe, comprising:
a cylindrical body having a closed end opposing an open end;
a resilient insert on an inner surface of the closed end;
at least one resilient rib on an inner surface of the cylindrical body for being disposed adjunct an exterior surface of a pipe to be temporarily capped,
whereby the cylindrical body being received with the resilient insert bearing on an end of the pipe caps the pipe;
a striker located on an outer surface of the closed end, whereby the striker being hammered facilitates positioning the cylindrical body with the resilient insert bearing on the end of the pipe;
a lifter attached to an exterior of the cylindrical body for lifting the cylindrical body during installation and removal on the pipe; and
an edge of the open end tapered toward the closed end in a direction opposite the lifter, thereby allowing the temporary cap to install perpendicular onto and rest atop the pipe.
