OG exemplary drawing

1. A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
(a) a surface cleaning head having a dirty air inlet and a surface cleaning head air outlet;
(b) an upright section moveable relative to the surface cleaning head between a storage position and a rearwardly reclined floor cleaning position,
(c) a hand vacuum cleaner having a hand vacuum cleaner air flow path from an inlet end of an air inlet conduit, which is operable as a nozzle, to a clean air outlet with an air treatment member and a fan-motor assembly provided in the hand vacuum cleaner air flow path, the hand vacuum cleaner has a front end having the inlet end of the inlet conduit, a rear end and a hand vacuum cleaner axis extending centrally through the hand vacuum cleaner from the front end to the rear end of the hand vacuum cleaner, wherein:
(i) in a first mode of operation, when the surface cleaning apparatus is operated to clean a floor, the inlet conduit is in flow communication with the surface cleaning head air outlet and the air treatment member is operable to treat air drawn in through the dirty air inlet; and,
(ii) in a second mode, the nozzle is operable to directly clean a surface or the air inlet conduit is directly connected to the downstream end of an accessory tool,
wherein the air treatment member comprises an air treatment chamber having an air inlet, an air outlet, a front end, a rear end and a sidewall extending between the front and rear ends of the air treatment chamber, the sidewall having a sidewall first portion and a sidewall second portion which are moveably mounted with respect to each other between an open position and a closed position wherein, when the sidewall first portion and the sidewall second portion are in the closed position, the sidewall first portion and the sidewall second portion abut along peripheral edges that extend generally axially, and
wherein the air treatment chamber air outlet comprises a porous member that is moveable concurrently when the sidewall first portion and the sidewall second portion move to the open position.
