13. A bone fusion surgical system for manipulating a bone fusion device in a desired location, the system comprising:
a bone fusion device having a body with one or more device channels, a positioning element having a positioning aperture and one or more extendable tabs, wherein manipulation of the positioning element enables the tabs to be extended away from the body; and
a rescue hook rod having an elongated arm with a base handle at a first end and a hook with a dull tip at a second end opposite the first end, wherein the base handle includes a top surface that is flat, the top surface of the base handle includes a first visual indicator, and the first visual indicator comprises markings having a shape that matches a shape of the hook and that indicates the orientation of the hook with respect to the base handle.
