1. A method comprising:
receiving a request to move a first endpoint from an on-premises site to a cloud environment;
creating, at the cloud environment, a private address space comprising an Internet Protocol (IP) address range that includes a first IP address assigned to the first endpoint at the on-premises site prior to being moved to the cloud environment;
configuring IP addresses from the IP range as one or more secondary IP addresses in a Layer 2 (L2) proxy router instantiated within the private address space in the cloud environment, wherein the IP addresses include the first IP address assigned to the first endpoint at the on-premises site and one or more IP addresses of one or more endpoints that remain at the on-premises site after the first endpoint is moved to the cloud environment, wherein the IP address range associated with the private address space is within or corresponds to a routing domain of the one or more endpoints at the on-premises site, the L2 proxy router residing on the cloud environment; and
after moving the first endpoint to the cloud environment, forwarding traffic destined from the first endpoint towards the one or more secondary IP addresses to a cloud overlay router via a tunnel extending from the L2 proxy router.
