A nonnaturally occurring organism having at least one hereditary alteration which increases the ability to transfer genetic molecules into the organism as compared to an unaltered organism, wherein the nonnaturally occurring organism is a strain of Cupriavidus necator and wherein the alteration is deletion of an endogenous target locus H16_A0006-9.
