1. An electronic gaming system comprising:
at least one memory with instructions stored thereon; and
at least one processor in communication with the at least one memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
cause display of an electronic game with a first theme, the first theme comprising a first plurality of symbols to replace placeholder symbols during play of the electronic game;
receive an input associated with a second theme;
transmit an identifier associated with the second theme to a host component of the at least one processor;
receive content associated with the second theme from the host component, wherein the content comprises a second plurality of symbols to replace the placeholder symbols during play of the electronic game;
cause a game outcome to be provided for the electronic game, the game outcome including at least one of the second plurality of symbols replacing at least one placeholder symbol of the placeholder symbols;
cause the game outcome for the electronic game to be stored in a game log in the at least one memory as incluidng the at least one placeholder symbol and being associated with the identifier; and
based upon receiving a request to one of replay or restore the electronic game, cause display of the game outcome as including the at least one of the second plurality of symbols replacing the at least one placeholder symbol based upon the game outcome being stored in the game log as including the at least one placeholder symbol and being associated with the identifier.
