1. A system comprising:
an electronic eyewear device comprising a processor, a memory, and a display;
a handheld device in communication with the electronic eyewear device and comprising an integrated circuit, a local memory, a first sensor, and a power system;
programming in the local memory, wherein execution of the programming configures the handheld device to perform functions, including functions to:
draw power from the power system according to a power budget comprising a sensing-power budget and a full-power budget, wherein the sensing-power budget is sufficient to support the first sensor;
detect a first interaction associated with the first sensor; and
in response to the first interaction, draw power according to the full-power budget and send a wake signal to the electronic eyewear device.
