1. A method for wireless communications at a computing device, the method comprising:
generating, by the computing device, a first modified bounding box for a first vehicle using dimensions and a positioning error for the first vehicle;
generating, by the computing device, a second modified bounding box for a second vehicle using dimensions and a positioning error for the second vehicle;
determining, by the computing device, a potential position overlap between the first vehicle and the second vehicle;
determining, by the computing device, a characteristic of at least one of the first vehicle or the second vehicle based on information from a vehicle-based message; and
determining, by the computing device, whether the potential position overlap is an actual position overlap between the first vehicle and the second vehicle based on the characteristic.
