1. A concentrated membrane cleaning composition comprising:
from 10 to 500 ppm of at least one amine oxide, wherein the at least one amine oxide comprises lauryldimethylamine oxide;
from 1 wt. % to 20 wt. % of at least one alkyl sulfate, wherein the at least one alkyl sulfate comprises 10-500 ppm 2-ethylhexyl sulfate; wherein less than 50 mg/m2 of the composition is retained on a membrane cleaned using the composition; and
wherein the composition is free of ethoxylated surfactants.
