13 Claims

1. A composition comprising:

at least 55 wt % water;

a salt-based thickener comprising a potassium, sodium, calcium, or magnesium salt of a C₈-C₃₂fatty acid, a dicarboxylic acid, or a hydroxy fatty acid;

a polymer-based thickener comprising lignin sulfonate; and

an inorganic solid-based thickener comprising talc, fumed silica, and hydrophobized fumed silica;

wherein the fumed silica and hydrophobized fumed silica are present in a weight ratio of 1:1 and the composition is a water-based lubricating grease, and

wherein the composition does not comprise an oil.
