1. A consumable for an aerosol generating device, comprising:
a columnar portion of aerosol generation substrate; and
a heating element embedded in the columnar portion,
the heating element comprising a base portion and a plurality of elongate portions extending from the base portion along the columnar portion,
the heating element being adapted to be driven towards an end of the columnar portion via a force applied to the base portion, wherein the heating element is bent to form the base portion and the plurality of elongate portions.
