1. A method, comprising:
receiving, by a controller device on a local area network, a list of user devices configured to be informed if an accessory device becomes unreachable by the controller device over the local area network;
transmitting, by the controller device, a ping message to the accessory device over the local area network;
determining, by the controller device, whether the accessory device is unreachable based at least in part on the ping message and reachability information that identifies that the accessory device was unreachable by at least one user device connected to the local area network; and
transmitting, by the controller device, a notification to each of the user devices on the list of user devices in accordance with a determination that the accessory device is unreachable over the local area network.
