1. An information handling system, comprising:
a first add-in slot configured to receive components of a first type; and
a baseboard management controller configured 1) to receive a first identifier from a first component installed into the first add-in slot, the first identifier to uniquely identify the first component from any other component of the first type, 2) to determine whether a first entry in an encoded component table includes the first identifier, the first entry being associated with the first add-in slot, 3) to determine a first action to perform for the first component in response to determining that the first entry includes the first identifier, 4) to perform the first action for the first component, 5) to send a request to authorize the first component to a management system in response to determining that the first entry does not include the first identifier, 6) to receive a response to the request that the first component is authorized, and 7) in response to permit the first component to operate on the information handling system.
