1. A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) card for controlling qubits in a quantum information processing (QIP) system, comprising:
a digital logic component having:
at least one direct digital synthesizer (DDS) for one or more outputs of the DAC card, wherein the one or more outputs control respective optical beams for qubits of the QIP system;
a function table that defines a parametrized function to be generated by the at least one DDS; and
at least one DAC component configured to receive the parametrized function generated by the at least one DDS to generate the one or more outputs, the parametrized function being in a digital form and the one or more outputs each being in an analog form,
wherein the parametrized function defined by the function table comprises a spline curve formed of a plurality of segments, and
parameters for each segment of the plurality of segments include one or more of an amplitude, a phase, or a frequency.
