1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a user computing device operating an augmented reality application, a first indication of a beginning location for an exit route;
receiving, at the augmented reality application, a second indication of an end location of the exit route, such that the augmented reality application stores a path of the exit route, defined at least partly by the beginning location and the end location, in a data structure of the augmented reality application;
receiving, at the augmented reality application, an identification of a location of a safe zone of the exit route;
storing, within the data structure of the augmented reality application, information indicating a location of the safe zone;
receiving a prompt to capture an image using a camera of the user computing device operating the augmented reality application;
causing the image to be captured via the camera, the image being associated with the safe zone; and
presenting, at a display of a mobile computing device, the image associated with the safe zone and at least one of a text or a graphic identifying the location of the safe zone.
