1. A desensitized fertilizer product, comprising:
a liquid fertilizer material comprising a nitrate group,
a plurality of particles distributed throughout the fertilizer material, wherein the particles comprise monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, or a combination thereof,
wherein the particles are formed, under heat, from a reaction product of the liquid fertilizer material and a liquid solution of ammonium polyphosphate having a total nitrogen content as N from about 10 to about 12 weight percent and a total phosphorous content as P2O5 from about 34 to about 38 weight percent based on the total weight of the ammonium polyphosphate solution, and
wherein the ammonium polyphosphate solution is present in an amount of about 20 to 70 weight percent based on the total dry weight basis of the desensitized fertilizer product.
