1. A transmission device comprising:
an optoelectrical converter circuitry configured to perform high dynamic range optoelectrical conversion on high dynamic range video data to obtain transmission video data; and
a processing circuitry configured to:
encode the transmission video data to obtain a video stream;
transmit a container in a predetermined format including the video stream; and
insert meta information indicating an electro-optical conversion characteristic corresponding to a characteristic of the high dynamic range optoelectrical conversion into a parameter set field in the video stream, the parameter set field being a field for video usability information (VUI),
wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to insert meta information for a display control into a field different from the parameter set field in the video stream, and insert, into a layer of the container, identification information indicating that the video stream supports the high dynamic range, wherein information indicating whether the display brightness adjustment for the video stream is prohibited is added to the identification information, and
wherein the meta information for the display control includes one or more of: (a) peak brightness information, (b) field information indicating a field where a display brightness adjustment is allowed, and (c) information indicating whether the display brightness adjustment for the video stream is prohibited.
