1. A utility pole protection system, comprising:
a fire retardant sleeve assembly configured to be arranged on a utility pole, the fire retardant sleeve assembly having an outer shell and an inner insulation layer, wherein the inner insulation layer is fixed to an inner surface of the outer shell; and
a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature experienced adjacent to the inner insulation layer, wherein the temperature sensor is covered by the fire retardant sleeve assembly.
