1. An entirely battery-powered lift truck for use in an indoor warehouse essentially continuously throughout a multi-hour work shift, the battery-powered lift truck comprising:
a chassis having a front side, a rear side, a left side, and a right side;
a plurality of wheels attached to the chassis, the plurality of wheels including one or more drive wheels, wherein the plurality of wheels are sized and placed to provide the battery-powered lift truck with a footprint and maneuverability suitable for use in the indoor warehouse essentially continuously throughout the multi-hour work shift;
a counterweight attached to the rear side of the chassis;
a chassis compartment situated between the one or more drive wheels and the counterweight and between the left side and right side of the chassis;
an operator compartment floor above the chassis compartment, wherein the floor is at a floor height above the ground, and the floor height is less than a height of at least one of the plurality of wheels;
an operator seat located above the operator compartment floor;
a battery located in the chassis compartment;
a lift mechanism configured to lift a load on a pallet;
a hydraulic system operably connected to actuate the lift mechanism; and
one or more motors located in the chassis compartment and operably connected to the battery, to the one or more drive wheels, and to the lift mechanism, wherein said one or more motors exclusively provide all power to the one or more drive wheels and to the lift mechanism.
