1. An illuminator, comprising:
a first set of ultraviolet radiation sources, wherein each ultraviolet radiation source in the first set of ultraviolet radiation sources emits germicidally-effective ultraviolet radiation; and
a second set of ultraviolet radiation sources, each ultraviolet radiation source in the second set of ultraviolet radiation sources operating in a wavelength range of approximately 380 nanometers to approximately 420 nanometers, wherein the first and the second sets of ultraviolet radiation sources are configured to irradiate a plurality of irradiation locations on an object, wherein an irradiation location is smaller than a surface of the object and is defined as a region of the surface of the object that is impinged by radiation emitted by the first set of ultraviolet radiation sources and/or the second set of ultraviolet radiation sources, wherein an intensity of radiation between each of the irradiation locations on the surface is no larger than 10% of an intensity of radiation at a center of each irradiation location.
