1. A portable electronic device comprising:
an enclosure defining an interior cavity and having a front cover;
a touch-sensitive display positioned below the front cover; and
a haptic engine positioned in the interior cavity and configured to produce a haptic output along an exterior surface of the portable electronic device in response to an actuation signal, the haptic engine comprising:
a first body component defining a first side of the haptic engine and comprising a first spring flexure and a first end element molded over a first portion of the first spring flexure;
a second body component defining a second side of the haptic engine opposite the first side and comprising a second spring flexure and a second end element molded over a first portion of the second spring flexure;
a movable mass component comprising a metallic weight and a molded polymer frame at least partially encapsulating the metallic weight, the molded polymer frame defining:
a first mounting portion molded over a second portion of the first spring flexure; and
a second mounting portion molded over a second portion of the second spring flexure; and
a coil configured to induce a linear movement of the movable mass component in response to the actuation signal thereby producing the haptic output.
