1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
receiving, at a client from an application currently executing on the client, a workload intent identifier corresponding to a workload intent of a forthcoming workload comprising one or more workload operations from the application, wherein the workload intent corresponds to one or more characteristics of the forthcoming workload over a connection between the client and a server, the server being unaware of the workload intent of the forthcoming workload;
sending, by the client, the workload intent identifier to the server, wherein the server is configured to optimize server resources and prepare data to send over the connection to the client based on the workload intent identifier prior to the client sending the one or more workload operations; and
sending, by the client in response to sending the workload intent identifier, the one or more workload operations to the server over the connection that are consistent with the workload intent.
