1. A rotating electrical machine operating by switching of magnetic flux, comprising:
a rotor;
a stator; and
a winding;
wherein said rotating electrical machine comprises at least 5 discs being either rotor discs being part of the rotor or stator discs being part of the stator, having a magnetic flux predominantly in an axial direction, where said axial direction being the direction of the axis of rotation of said rotor;
wherein said stator discs and rotor discs are interleaved with each other via airgaps along said axial direction;
wherein at least 2 of said discs are end cap discs, which are either rotor discs or stator discs and are the two outermost discs of said rotating electrical machine in said axial direction having all other rotor discs and stator discs located between them;
wherein said winding comprises at least two phase windings;
wherein at least two of said stator discs each comprise a winding loop from a same phase winding;
wherein said winding loop encloses magnetic flux from n magnetic poles of the same polarity, where n is larger than 2, and said at least one winding loop encloses a total magnetic flux being larger than the magnetic flux from one individual magnetic pole, where said winding loop circumference is shorter than 2*n*d, where d is an airgap width distance, being the average width of the magnetically active part of said airgaps taken in a radial direction with respect to said axis of rotation of said rotor;
wherein said magnetic poles are provided in at least one of said rotor and said stator;
wherein said two end cap discs are mechanically connected by a stiff mechanical structure which mechanically transfers more than 15% of the axial magnetic attraction force acting on one of said two end cap discs to the other of said two end cap discs.
