1. A system for conditionally granting or denying access to a protected area using image-based recognition, the system comprising:
an imaging device;
a sensor configured to collect audio or visual context information;
a first recognition processor configured to analyze image information; and
an access control processor configured to execute instructions that cause the access control processor to:
receive first face and gesture information corresponding to a first individual from the imaging device;
provide the first face and gesture information to the first recognition processor;
receive audio or visual context information from a vicinity of the protected area from the sensor;
determine an authentication threshold based on the audio or visual context information, including determining whether to use a higher authentication threshold or a lower authentication threshold;
determine a first recognition result using an analysis result received from the first recognition processor and the authentication threshold that is based on the audio or visual context information; and
conditionally grant or deny access to the protected area based on the first recognition result.
