1. A computer-implemented method for handling an available to promise inquiry, comprising:
requesting, by a computer comprising a processor and memory, statistics for one or more partitions of a distributed cache;
determining, by the computer, whether a threshold for the one or more partitions has been reached;
in response to a determination that the threshold for the one or more partitions has been reached, fetching, by the computer, inventory data for the available to promise inquiry from a local cache; and
in response to a determination that the threshold for the one or more partitions has not been reached, fetching, by the computer, inventory data for the available to promise inquiry from the distributed cache.
