1. A computer-implemented method for segmenting data processing workflows, the method comprising:
determining a configuration of an instrument system, the instrument system including an analytical instrument coupled with an instrument PC (IPC), the IPC being configured to receive raw data from the analytical instrument, to process the raw data, and to communicate with a client computing device coupled with the instrument system; and
segmenting a data process workflow based at least in part on the configuration, attributing at least a subset of constituent operations of the data process workflow to the client computing device or the IPC, the segmenting comprising:
defining a first subset of operations of the data process workflow, wherein the first subset of operations is executed locally on the IPC using the raw data; and
defining a second subset of operations of the data process workflow, wherein the second subset of operations are executed locally on the client computing device using processed data transferred to the client computing device from the instrument system.
