1. A computer-implemented method for altering data for privacy protection in a data analytics pipeline, the method comprising:
receiving, by a first server in the data analytics pipeline, privacy policy information, wherein the privacy policy information describes one or more techniques for transforming data for privacy protection;
receiving data captured by a sensing device;
identifying at least a portion of the data as personal identifiable information as described in the privacy policy information;
selecting, based on a combination of the received privacy policy information and computational resources available in the first server, a technique from the one or more techniques to be used for altering the data for increasing a level of data privacy, wherein the technique describes reducing a resolution of image data corresponding to at least a part of the portion of the data for further processing the data in an increased level of data privacy by a second server in a subsequent step of the data analytics pipeline;
altering, by the first server, at least a part of the portion of the data using the selected technique; and
transmitting, by the first server, the altered data in the increased level of data privacy to the second server of the data analytics pipeline.
