1. A method for determining a position of a mobile device, the method comprising:
determining a first position fix of the mobile device at a first time based on one or more satellite positioning system (“SPS”) signals;
determining an uncertainty of the first position fix is below a threshold level;
determining, at a second time, to use one or more non-SPS technologies to determine an updated position fix of the mobile device with respect to the first position fix without using the SPS signals, even if the one or more SPS signals are available to the mobile device, wherein:
determining to use the one or more non-SPS technologies to determine the updated position fix is based at least in part on the determination that the uncertainty of the first position fix is below the threshold level,
the one or more non-SPS technologies comprise a subset of a plurality of non-SPS technologies available to the mobile device, and
the one or more non-SPS technologies are determined from the plurality of non-SPS technologies based on:
power consumption and accuracy corresponding to at least one of the plurality of non-SPS technologies, and
one or more metrics, wherein the one or more metrics comprise at least one of received signal strength, round trip delay, time of arrival, time difference of arrival, angle of arrival, Doppler frequency, motion sensor data, or any combination thereof; and
in response to the determination to use the one or more non-SPS technologies, determining a second position fix of the mobile device based on the one or more non-SPS technologies, the second position fix comprising the updated position fix.
