1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a hardware-based power measurement device implemented on a server, a power usage measurement;
using, by a processor, a curve fitting algorithm to generate a mathematical formula that characterizes the power usage measurement;
identifying, by the processor, an element based on the mathematical formula generated by the curve fitting algorithm, the identifying of the element including matching a power signature associated with the mathematical formula with a plurality of power signatures associated with a plurality of elements;
determining, by the processor, a user behavior associated with the element based at least on an analysis of the power usage measurement; and
based on a determined user behavior, causing, by the processor, the element to perform an action that affects a power function of the element.
