1. An alloy selected from the group consisting of CrFeMnNbZr and CrMnNbNiZr, wherein each element is in equiatomic or near-equiatomic amounts.
 
2. An alloy, consisting essentially of:
Mn and two refractory elements selected from the group consisting of Cr, Nb, Ti, Zr and V; and
one transition metal selected from the group consisting of Ni and Fe;
wherein the refractory elements and transition metal are in equiatomic or near-equiatomic amounts.
