1. A method for production of an alcohol, comprising:
electrolyzing water to produce hydrogen;
combining carbon dioxide with the hydrogen in the presence of a first catalyst to produce a mixture of alcohols,
wherein the mixture of alcohols comprises ethanol; and
wherein the first catalyst comprises nanoparticles comprising copper and zinc.
