14. An elevator system comprising:
an elevator car;
a drive driving the elevator car;
a control means controlling the drive and including a circuit;
wherein the circuit has a switch to be monitored, the switch being part of a safety chain of the elevator system, and the switch having an input terminal and an output terminal;
wherein the circuit has a signal transmitter unit connected to the input terminal, the signal transmitter unit applying an AC voltage signal as an input signal to the input terminal; and
wherein the circuit has a monitoring unit connected to the output terminal, the monitoring unit receiving the input signal and recording an output signal at the output terminal and, based on a comparison of the output signal with the input signal, generating a monitoring signal that indicates a switching state of the switch.
