1. A system for overcurrent protection in an electric vehicle, the system comprising:
a charging port of an electric vehicle, wherein the charging port comprises:
at least an AC pin;
a protection circuit, wherein the protection circuit is configured to control the transmission of power through the electric vehicle charging port;
a sensor suite, wherein the sensor suite includes a plurality of independent sensors working in tandem to detect an output current from a charging station; and
a controller communicatively connected to the sensor suite, wherein the controller is configured to:
detect an overcurrent output as a function of the output current; and
trip the protection circuit as a function of the overcurrent output.
