1. An exercise apparatus comprising:
a frame;
first and second vertical guides coupled to the frame;
first and second carriages carried on the respective first and second vertical guides, each of the first and second carriages having a first carriage portion, a second carriage portion and a carriage lock operable to lock and release at least one of the first or second carriage portions to a selected vertical position along the first and second vertical guides, and wherein the carriage lock of each of the first and second carriages requires a same vertical position along the first and second vertical guides for the carriage lock to engage a portion of the first and second vertical guides and remains in a locked position until release; and
an exercise bar coupled to the first or second carriage portion of the first and second carriages, the exercise bar operable to actuate the carriage lock.
