1. A surgical instrument assembly, comprising:
a handle comprising a printed circuit board;
a shaft assembly defining a longitudinal shaft axis, wherein said shaft assembly is rotatable relative to said handle about said longitudinal shaft axis, and wherein said shaft assembly comprises:
a shaft;
an articulation joint; and
an end effector attached to said shaft by said articulation joint;
a camming member; and
an orientation control system configured to determine the orientation of said shaft assembly relative to said handle, wherein said orientation control system comprises:
a switch, wherein said switch is switchable between an on position and an off position by said camming member when said shaft assembly is rotated relative to said handle about said longitudinal shaft axis, wherein said shaft assembly is rotatable through a first rotation range where said switch is held in said on position by said camming member and a second rotation range where said switch is in said off position, wherein said on position indicates a first orientation range of said end effector relative to said handle, wherein said off position indicates a second orientation range of said end effector relative to said handle, and wherein said second orientation range is different than said first orientation range.
