1. A negative electrode, for a battery using an alkaline aqueous solution as an electrolytic solution, including metal as a negative active material, the negative electrode comprising
an active material layer including an additive and active material particles including a zinc-containing compound,
the additive comprising particles with an average particle size larger than an average particle size of the active material particles, and
the additive further comprising at least one selected from a group consisting of a compound including an element in a second family of a periodic table among elements acting as basic oxides and another compound including an element in a thirteenth family of the periodic table among elements acting as amphoteric oxides, wherein
the additive contains ranges from 0.01 parts by mass to 2.8 parts by mass inclusive per 100 parts by mass of the active material particles,
a thickness of the negative electrode for the battery is 500 μm to 10 mm,
the additive further comprises: a first additive; and a second additive comprising particles with an average particle size smaller than an average particle size of particles of the first additive,
the second additive is more dissolvable in the alkaline aqueous solution than the first additive,
the first additive is aluminum oxide, and
the second additive is calcium oxide.
