1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
receiving first data of an interaction associated with a user, the first data including an indication of a payment account of the user to be used to complete the interaction;
obtaining, from a data store, second data of an authentication item associated with the user, wherein the authentication item is an object that includes an identifier associated with the payment account of the user indicated by the first data, and the second data of the authentication item includes the identifier;
determining a first geographic location of a user device used by the user to initiate the interaction, based on the first data, wherein an IP address corresponding to the user device included in the first data is identified to determine the first geographic location;
transmitting authentication data to the user device for display, wherein the authentication data displayed on the user device is read by a camera device and the reading of the authentication data causes the camera device to generate a response that includes information indicative of a second geographic location of the camera device;
receiving the response from the camera device;
authenticating the camera device as being associated with the user, based at least on a comparison of the first geographic location of the user device determined based on the first data and the second geographic location of the camera device included in the response received from the camera device, the comparison indicating the second geographic location is a matching geographic location that is within a predetermined geographical proximity to the first geographic location;
in response to the authenticating of the camera device, providing a user interface to the camera device for display on the camera device, wherein the displayed user interface includes a prompt, the prompt including instructions for the user to capture one or more images of the authentication item using the camera device;
receiving one or more images;
verifying that the user is in possession of the authentication item based on:
a detection that the one or more images are received from and captured by the camera device authenticated as being associated with the user, the detection confirming that the one or more images were captured at the matching geographic location to the first geographic location of the user device used by the user to initiate the interaction, and
a comparison of the one or more images with the identifier included in the second data of the authentication item obtained from the data store indicating the one or more images are of the authentication item; and
in response to the authenticating of the camera device and the verifying that the user is in possession of the authentication item, approving the interaction and transmitting approval data, the approval data including the identifier for use in completing the interaction using the payment account.
