1. A system comprising:
a wireless interface;
a serial interface comprising circuitry to operate in one of a first operating mode or a second operating mode, wherein the first operating mode is associated with a first data transfer rate, and the second operating mode is associated with a second data transfer rate that is less than the first data transfer rate;
control circuitry to transition the serial interface between the first operating mode and the second operating mode;
one or more non-transitory memories storing computer-executable instructions; and
one or more hardware processors to execute the computer-executable instructions to:
at a first time, determine a first received signal strength value associated with the wireless interface;
determine a first threshold value associated with use of the serial interface in the first operating mode;
determine a second threshold value associated with use of the serial interface in the second operating mode;
determine that the first received signal strength value is less than the first threshold value;
in response to the first received signal strength value being less than the first threshold value, operate the serial interface in the second operating mode;
at a second time after the first time, determine a second received signal strength value associated with the wireless interface;
determine that the second received signal strength value is greater than the second threshold value; and
in response to the second received signal strength value being greater than the second threshold value, transition the serial interface from the second operating mode to the first operating mode.
