1. A method for treatment of or reduction of the occurrence of an anastomotic stricture, the method comprising:
providing a balloon catheter in a target site in a body lumen comprising the anastomotic stricture, wherein the anastomotic stricture comprises a stricture in an anastomosis between two portions of the same body structure, or between two different body structures, wherein the balloon catheter comprises
an elongated balloon, and
a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon, wherein the coating layer comprises an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent chosen from paclitaxel, docetaxel, taxol, rapamycin, sirolimus, zotarolimus, everolimus, tacrolimus, mTOR inhibitors, analogues thereof, and combinations thereof;
inflating the balloon at the target site to contact the coating layer with walls of the body lumen at the location of the anastomotic stricture until the balloon achieves an inflated balloon diameter for an inflation period;
deflating the balloon after the inflation period; and
withdrawing the balloon catheter from the body lumen;
wherein the balloon catheter provided in the target site is a soaked balloon catheter, wherein the balloon catheter is soaked outside the body with a soaking solution comprising water or saline, or the balloon catheter is soaked in the target site with a flushing solution comprising water or saline, or a combination thereof.
