1. A patient support apparatus comprising:
a support frame;
a patient support deck operatively attached to the support frame, the patient support deck including a fowler deck section and a leg deck section;
an actuator operatively attached between the support frame and the fowler deck section for moving the fowler deck section between an initial configuration and a raised configuration; and
a guiding assembly coupled to the support frame and coupled to the fowler deck section for guiding the fowler deck section between the initial configuration and the raised configuration, the guiding assembly including:
a timing link pivotally coupled to the fowler deck section and to the support frame,
a curved slot member fixed to the support frame and defining an arcuate path, and
a follower member fixed to the fowler deck section and supporting a guide member for movement along the arcuate path of the curved slot member; and
wherein an edge portion of the fowler deck section is spaced longitudinally further from a corresponding edge portion of the leg deck section in the raised configuration than in the initial configuration.
