1. A method comprising:
joining a network, by a wireless device, as a child of a parent device;
setting an uplink broadcast channel of the wireless device to a same time and frequency of a downlink broadcast channel of the parent device;
setting a downlink broadcast channel of the wireless device to a time or frequency that is different from the time or frequency of the downlink broadcast channel of the parent device; and
transmitting, by the wireless device, a beacon that includes a first broadcast schedule information element that specifies the downlink broadcast channel of the wireless device.
