1. A method of transmitting data from a transmitting device to a receiving device in a shared-medium network, the method comprising:
configuring the transmitting device to provision a hopping pattern, the hopping pattern comprising a plurality of channels and a plurality of times that are shared with at least one other transmitting device, wherein the receiving device has no prior knowledge of the hopping pattern, and wherein the receiving device is configured to continuously receive transmissions on the plurality of channels simultaneously; and
configuring the transmitting device to employ the hopping pattern for transmitting data in the shared-medium network simultaneously with the at least one other transmitting device.
