1. An earpiece retention assembly comprising:
a cable portion pre-formed into an ear loop that wraps around and down behind an ear with a first end coupled to a non-insertion end of an earpiece, wherein the cable portion is configured to bias the earpiece toward the interior of the ear loop and toward the back of the ear, thus defining a default orientation;
wherein the earpiece is configured to be twisted from the default orientation for insertion into an ear canal of the ear, thus defining an insertion orientation; and
wherein the earpiece is configured to be twisted from the default orientation for insertion into the ear canal of either ear.
