1. An apparatus comprising one or more processors and one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media coupled to the one or more processors and including instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to perform operations comprising:
configuring an application probe class;
determining an adaptive Forward Error Correction (FEC) data policy for the application probe class;
calculating a loss value associated with the application probe class for a link between two network nodes;
comparing the loss value to a loss threshold; and
determining whether to activate FEC processing for the application probe class.
