1. A method for supporting generation of comfort noise for at least two audio channels at a decoder, the method being performed by an encoder, the method comprises:
selecting a weight factor α based on an available bit-budget Bm for encoding a spatial coherence value (C);
calculating a combined prediction (Cpc) using: a first coherence prediction (Cp1), a second coherence prediction (Cp2), and α, wherein Cpc is equal to α(Cp1)+(1−α) (Cp2);
obtaining a residual coherence value (Cr) using the combined prediction (Cpc) and the spatial coherence value (C), where Cr is equal to C−Cpc;
signaling information about the residual coherence value (Cr) to the decoder; and
signaling information about the weight factor α to the decoder, for enabling the generation of the comfort noise for the at least two audio channels at the decoder.
