1. A method for locating counterfeit items comprising:
reading at least one item identifier from an identification tag affixed to an item at a location and associated location data using a processor and an identification tag reader;
comparing the location data to a database of location data associated with authorized sellers using the processor; and
generating a display on a display device with notification data if the location data does not match a location in the database of location data associated with the authorized seller.
